BANGOR LAWYER RECEIVES TWO TOP LAWYER AWARDS

Bangor trial attorney, N. Laurence Willey, Jr. (photo, right) was recently presented with an award from the American Trial Lawyer’s Association for its “Top 100 Trial Lawyers List” and a second naming him a “Top Lawyer in New England.” The awards were presented to Willey by Penobscot County Bar Association President John Canders (photo, left). Willey is also board certified in civil trial advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA). He is one of only nine lawyers in the State with that designation. Willey serves as Maine’s representative to the National Board. Willey has represented clients throughout New England. Several area attorneys expressed congratulations to Willey on his receipt of the “top lawyer” awards.

Willey is Senior Partner with Willey Law Offices where the practice focuses on the Bangor-Ellsworth area. Willey is a former two-term Mayor and City Councilor in Bangor. He served four years as the Governor’s Representative to Canada. He also served on the State Restructuring Commission. He has published numerous articles on legal, economic, and government topics. He has served as an adjunct instructor at Husson University. Willey earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Maine. He holds a doctorate of law from Suffolk University Law School where he graduated first in his sectional class and served as associate editor of the Law Review. He also completed the Senior Executive in State and Local Government program at Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government. Willey resides in Bangor with his wife. They have three adult children.
